When a ship levels up the information from the tooltip is not correct. I use a mod that allows normal ships to gain some stats depending on what component they may have equiped to thier ship/ships. This information is just displayed as the "Ship Name - 2%". It does the same if you gain any stats from anomolies (Another mod that adds anomolies that may give a small boost to attack or defence).
