Pop and then No Sound

I'm playing v1.02 on a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 with 4GB of RAM.  Shortly after loading up a saved game I will click on something and I will hear a POP sound and then all sounds stop until I exit and restart the game.  I have seen this occur with only about 55-60 sounds playing so is this a different issue then the one described in this knowledge base article https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/528/161/sound-cutting-out-sfx-crackling-and-crashes-related-to-sound?  I'm also experiencing the occassional short freeze and some permanent lockups requiring me to kill the app with Cltr-Alt-Delete.
