ship design animation -- problem and request

Posted on Thursday, May 28, 2015

I got the game a few days ago and I've been tinkering with ship design (so much fun!).  One problem I seem to be having is with the play and pause buttons in the animation window... they don't seem to do anything.  For instance, if I want something to oscillate along the x-axis, once I set the range and speed, it starts moving, even if the pause button is still active. And if hit the play button, it keeps going, and if I hit the pause button it keeps going.

Another thing I noticed is that there doesn't seem to be a way to change the phase of an oscillation.  For example, I'd like to have a row of blocks lining up parallel to the x-axis.  Then I would like them to all oscillate in the z-direction with the same speed and same oscillation range (i.e. amplitude).  But I want the second block to reach it's peak slightly after the first block; I'd like the third block to reach it's peak slightly after the second block, and the fourth slightly after the third block, etc.  Looking from the side, this would create an oscillating wave.  Perhaps there is a trick to accomplish this, but if not, it could be implemented with a little slider between the two oscillation-range-sliders; the additional slider would state what the initial position is supposed to be.  Just a thought.
