I stumbled upon this trick today.. towards the later stages of the game when you have more than one techs worth of research points.. if u change to the tech tree and select a tech two or three along the branch from the current .. it will research all of the techs in the same turn.
Next turn you get the first tech and instead of a research button, you get a next button for the next tech and so on until you need to research again. This is very cool as I was getting frustrated with the 1 tech per turn limitation.
