So, how exactly does the adjecency bonus system work?

I've taken a look at three different planets I own. The one on the left has 4 research stations in the best adjecency setup. That's all research the planet has. The one on the right, has a circle of 4 research stations and a data archive. In the middle hex, I put the research capital. The third planet has no research stations whatsoever.

When I put the planets on research for the full 100%, I get that the planets have 19.4, 21.9 and 19.3 raw research. But I can't work out how that goes. With no research stations on the third planet, how can it possibly have 19.3 raw research? I know that there's a base level even without any structures, but that seems a bit much, doesn't it? The first planet has 19.4 research, which would be too little, if we'd assume that the third planet's research production level is correct. In this case, I'm missing all the adjacency bonus, which count up to 11. So if the base research would be 19, then the actual raw research should be 30, shouldn't it?

The same question goes for the second planet, with my capital. The rate is 21.6, but what happens to the 36 research points gained from the adjacency bonus?
