Beginner questions :)

Posted on Saturday, August 16, 2014

Hi all,

Just signed up for the beta and I'm really enjoying it so far.  I'm a veteran CIV and Moo2 player and although i've owned the older Galciv titles I don't think I gave them the love they deserved

So, with that out of the way I've got a few queries in order to grasp the fundamentals of the game.

1) Starbases - if you build a starbase on say... antimatter, outwith the range of one of your colonies, what benefit would it provide (if any).

2) What should you focus on in the beginning of the game?  I tend to focus on buying a few colony ships and emphasizing growth.  This is the CIV V player in me (granary) but, given that I don't understand the population mechanics, I'm not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree

3) Should you specialize planets or generalize planets?  I'm leaning heavily towards specializations (i.e. research world, finance world) but I noticed that you can gain disapproval from a lack of wealth?  Is this an empire disparity (like one planet is annoyed it's not generating as much wealth as the others) or how does it work?

I'm likely going to have a million more questions but i'll end with one more.  Are there any "Polycast style" Galciv 3 broadcasts?  I want to immerse myself in the game and I find the format both fun and informative!

Thanks in advance
