When exploring far away from my base/colony there are regions which are due to fuel / life support not reachable.
Though I can order my ship to pass those areas if I can give a destination on the other side. IMHO I would suggest to not allow the ships to enter those areas, rather would force the ship to move around the perimeter of the unreachable area.
