Multiplayer Error Messages

What the heck is this supposed to mean?!

Posted on Friday, March 28, 2014

If you're getting an error in a multiplayer game, the following info may help out:

"Your connection has failed." means either:

  • Failed to create a lobby
  • Game started as you were entering a lobby, lobby is now closed
  • Entering lobby failed
  • Failed to get a list of lobbies in matchmaking screen
  • Connection to host lost

Generally speaking, this means the peer-to-peer connection between computers has failed. The next patch will give more robust error messages.

"Your client has gotten out of sync with the host. Please let us know what you were doing on the forums. Thanks!"

This indicates that the gameplay state mismatches between the players' versions of the simulation. Please send us your debug.err (C:\Users\<your name here>\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\debug.err) and MP autosave files ((C:\Users\<your name here>\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\MPSaves\Auto Save.GC3Sav)) are very helpful in tracking and fixing these issues.

Please zip up any files and submit them via our support site at: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit. Please include as much detail about what was going on as you can.
